This Memorial Day we went to the local school to let Betzi run. We usually spend a quiet day together on Memorial Day. This doesn't feel like a day for partying and drinking.

Los Padres National Forest
While spending a few weekdays in Ojai we decided to have a picnic in the Los Padres National Forest. The mountains of the forest border Ojai on its Northern flank.
Carrie always has a picnic blanket ready.
Why, you ask, were the kids not in school? Since you asked then let me tell you.
Thanks to the problems created by our elected officials over the last three decades our kids were given a week off from school. Instead of firing teachers they closed school for a week to save money. Do we fire teachers or do we provide less education for our children? The dumbing down of America is in full force.

Since the Reagan years our country has been actively exporting American jobs to other countries. Now we are importing not jobs but minds. Americans are being dumbed down and minds from India are filling in the gap. A dumbed down populous is less resistant to the evolving corporative government that has taken over our democracy while we play Nintendo and "go shopping".
Better then TV.
In response to the deplorable state of our educational system we did what every good American does, we ignored it and took a vacation.
