How I Spend My Saturday Mornings

6:30 am Cheeseboro Canyon
Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area
I volunteer at the Mobile Information Center for the National Park Service. It's the small tin can at the lower right that can barely be seen in the morning fog. I have 100 to 200 visitors that pass by my rusty tin can between 7am and 12 noon. Mostly people on mountain bikes. It's a parade of every type of person that you could imagine.
I take an early morning hike before the crazyness unfolds.

On a Trail in the Hills

Jelly beans in their ears
Walking, running, riding
I quickly disappear

Redtail in a slow dance
Soaring above their heads
They don’t even give a glance

Jelly beans in their ears
Whirlwind approaches from behind
Up their unsuspecting rears

Next thing they know they’re on their Butt
Little booboo on their elbow
A lump on their head the size of a nut

Jelly beans in their ears
Take those damn beans out
Look around, there is a world to see and hear.

So says I

The Sun is Back

Finally after 5 days of rain the sun is once again shining on my California garden.
The solar electric panels are pumping out kilowatt hours.
The sun warms my face.
All seems in well in my own little world.
The real world will have to wait for a moment.
I will return.
I will return?
